Sterilization Reels: Custom-Length Pouches for Instrument Packaging
Pre-formed pouches are convenient when you have lots of similar-sized instruments. For everything else (and that's most CSSDs), sterilization reels are the better answer. You cut to length, seal, and label, which means less wasted material and proper packaging for instruments of every shape and size.
Three reel formats
Flat paper/film reels are the standard CSSD workhorse, validated for steam (autoclave) sterilization. Gusseted reels have expandable side gussets for bulky instruments, surgical trays, and three-dimensional sets that flat reels can't accommodate. Tyvek/film reels are for EO (ethylene oxide) sterilization and applications requiring superior puncture resistance and long-shelf-life sterility maintenance.
Paper vs. Tyvek: which to use
Paper/film is the right choice for steam sterilization at 121°C or 134°C, which covers about 95% of routine CSSD work in Pakistani hospitals. Tyvek/film is for low-temperature EO sterilization of heat-sensitive items (endoscopes, certain electronic medical devices, and any instrument that can't tolerate autoclave temperatures). Most CSSDs need both reel types in stock.
What's on every reel
Every reel includes dual chemical indicator stripes (one for steam, one for EO), so each pack visually confirms sterilization cycle exposure regardless of which method you used. The polypropylene film side is clear, so technicians can identify the instrument inside without opening the pack.
Available sizes and compliance
Nine widths from 50mm to 400mm, all in 200m roll lengths. All reels are DRAP registered and imported from ISO 13485:2016-certified manufacturers in China. Heat-seal performance and microbial barrier properties meet ISO 11607 packaging standards for terminally sterilized medical devices.
